The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, on Wednesday called on Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETfund, to extend its interventions to the Plateau State University, Polytechnic and College of Education.
Speaking to journalists at TETfund premises, the governor said the state’s tertiary institutions are very dear to his heart, hence the need to put them on a very strong footing.
He specifically requested the agency to intervene in the state’s university and provide it with ICT centres, laboratories and lecture theatres as well as a faculty of Health Science building.
Mr.Lalong noted that the state university has been engulfed in governance crisis as a result of interference from the immediate past administration in.
He added that two sets of final year students were waiting to be graduated due to non-accreditation of their courses.
He said three public higher institutions in the state had benefited from TETfund interventions but the University of Jos suffered set backs due to mismanagement of fund.
Speaking, the Executive Secretary of the TETFund, Elias Bogoro, said all the requests made by the Plateau State Governor were legitimate and within the TETFund mandate.
